Executive Board

Maria is a senior in Leverett studying Neuroscience & Chemistry. Since 2023, Maria has been conducting research in the Valera lab, studying the effects of traumatic brain injury in survivors of intimate partner violence. She is excited to enter her second semester as Co-Editor in Chief; she hopes to use the position to promote access to undergraduate research for the Harvard student body. Outside of THURJ, she competes for the Harvard College Debate Union and volunteers at Brigham & Women's Hospital. In her free time, she enjoys reading, baking, and taking walks.

Manya is a junior in Mather House studying Economics with a secondary in Global Health & Health Policy. Her current research at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health focuses on the health economics of precision medicine interventions. Through THURJ, Manya hopes to promote undergraduate research among the Harvard community and beyond. In her free time, Manya loves to try new cafes with friends or curl up with a good book!

Sophie Gao is a junior in Kirkland House, concentrating in Molecular & Cellular Biology and History & Science. She studies interception strategies and therapeutics for pancreatic cancer at Brigham and Women's Hospital/Harvard Medical School/the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, and is also interested in the development of American genetics and medicine during the Cold War. Outside of THURJ, she writes for The Harvard Crimson's magazine, and volunteers with Boston Children's Hospital and the PBHA.

Lale Baylar is a junior in Pforzheimer House studying Mathematics with a citation in French. She has worked on independent research projects studying the unmodality of the strong independent set sequences of linear hypergraphs, the sum of squares as well as the transformation of the Ramanujan-Nagell equation x^2 + 7 = 2^n into elliptic curves to analyze torsion points and solutions. Outside of THURJ, Lale is a part of the Harvard Undergraduate Gender Inclusitivity In Math (HUGIIM) and the Math Committee. And finally, as hobbies, she likes to work on digital art, watch shows/movies, and try new foods!

Natasha Kulviwat is a junior in Mather concentrating in Neuroscience. She is currently a research intern at the Massachusetts General Hospital where she is working with human induced pluripotent stem cells to characterize potential biomarkers and therapeutics for psychiatric disorders. Outside of THURJ, Natasha is co-Editor-in-Chief of the Harvard Brain and leads the Advocacy and Service branch of Women in Medicine. As Managing Director of Business, she is excited to continue spearheading projects this upcoming year to fund the start and showcasing of research projects.

Kerry Nguyen is a sophomore in Currier House studying a mixture of Chemistry, Neurobiology, and Statistics. He currently works in the Hensch Lab in the MCB Department, where he conducts computational and wet-lab research on brain development. Outside of THURJ, you can catch him swimming at the MAC/Blodgett, reading the bible or research papers, drinking hot chocolate or milk at night, learning the guitar, and cooking (or mainly watching food reels)! Through THURJ, he hopes to build a community where young researchers can explore, create, and , most importantly, have fun.

Iris is a senior in Lowell House studying mathematics and integrative biology. She currently researches formalizations of translation algorithms between Mission-time Linear Temporal Logic and Boolean logic and SAT solving in the Laboratory for Temporal Logic. Outside of THURJ, she is a violinist in the Harvard Radcliffe Orchestra, and has served as president of the Harvard Radcliffe Society of Physics Students.

Danielle is a senior in Adams House studying neuroscience and English. She is interested in neurodevelopment and degeneration and is currently conducting research on campus focused on the impact of the blood brain barrier on neurogenesis. As a Managing Editor of Peer Review, she is excited to make research more accessible and approachable for other undergraduates.

Ori is a sophomore in Dunster House concentrating in Astrophysics with a joint in Physics. She currently researches galaxy evolution at the Center for Astrophysics. Outside of THURJ, Ori is heavily involved in astronomy and physics organizations (for example, she teaches telescope classes on top of the Science Center!). She also loves cats, ceramics, and hiking!

Neo is a senior from Seattle, Washington living in Mather House. He conducts research on macular diseases at the Harvard Retinal Imaging Lab at MEE and on cerebrovascular diseases at the NeuroVert Lab at UPenn. On campus, he's also involved in Asian American Association and the Phillips Brooks House Association, and in his free time, Neo enjoys thrifting, lifting, and playing poker.

Hannah is a freshman in Matthews planning to concentrate in History and Science with a secondary in Philosophy. She has conducted research in the Pfleger Lab at Mount Sinai, studying side effects of aromatase inhibitors used to treat breast cancer and their potential associations with certain single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs). In high school, she served as Editor-in-Chief of her newspaper and founded The Helix, a science magazine focused on making science more accessible and exciting to students. Outside of THURJ, Hannah loves playing piano, baking, and listening to music! She is passionate about translating complicated scientific ideas into language that people outside of the scientific community can actually understand.
